My Days In D.A.V. BGPM

Calling DAV “A home away from home” would be a gross understatement, for I have spent a third of my life in this amazing establishment. The way I spent my time here feels paradoxical as it just feels like yesterday when I joined this school back in 2015, yet every single day spent in the school ever since I joined here in my seventh standard has been a memorable one (the days I have spent virtually as well). Well, they do say time flies when you’re having fun and it sure did for me.

It is needless to say that most of the fun I had here is because of the teachers and friends. Of all the schools I’ve been to, I have never seen a more dedicated, passionate and caring faculty. Every single teacher who taught me since day one has had a profound impact on who I have become today. It is one thing to be able to make a student get good scores, but it is really amazing when a teacher can also make a student develop a deep interest in a particular subject. (Prior to joining this school, I never imagined that history would be enjoyable to learn) Yet, what I love even more about the teachers is that they are really caring and every teacher who has taught me, has treated me like their own child.

The friends I have made in this school are the ones whom I am going to treasure for my lifetime. Be it the group study sessions we had or the countless shenanigans we pulled during class, it has forged our friendships into brotherhoods. The peer group here has been really supportive and fun throughout the years.

However, all good stories come to an end and so did my school life, in a rather anticlimactic fashion. Online classes, something that I thought would be prevalent in the distant future a century ahead, became a strange reality. The lockdown and the pandemic robbed me of spending my final year in school in actual classrooms. Yet, the school was quick to adapt and the teachers started taking online classes and made them as effective as normal classes.

From all the years I have spent here, I have nothing but immense gratitude to all the teachers, staff, management and my pals who have made me who I am today. As someone once said, “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”
